Miners in Chile

When you watched the news about the trapped Chilean miners did you
start thinking about how you would survive in a similar situation? Did
you imagine yourself in a dark enclosed space and how you would cope?
Trapped for 69 days. Did the thought 'I can't breathe' go through your
mind? If you have answered yes, then it is possible that you suffer
from claustrophobia; a fear of enclosed spaces.

Claustrophobia can develop because of a previous bad experience in an
enclosed space. This is called trauma. Your mind remembers the fear
and so you feel it whenever it perceives a similar situation. You may
experience nightmares and recurring thoughts about the incident. If
you have recently been involved in a traumatic situation of being
trapped book an appointment and let The Phobia Centre help you to
become free of the distress and fear.

BBC News - 18th December 2009

'Due to short circuits caused by melting snow filtered into train engines, five Eurostar trains broke down in the undersea tunnel on Dec. 18 and trapped over 2,000 passengers. Some of them were stuck for 17 hours without water or food. The length of the tunnel is 50 km, including 39 km of which is underwater.'

This is a potentially terrifying situation to be stuck in. Many people would start to panic and wonder if they would be eventually rescued. It is understandable that after a trauma like this, a similar but harmless situation could trigger a phobic reaction to tunnels, trains, lack of oxygen or enclosed spaces (claustrophobia)

If you were one of those people who was stuck in Eurotunnel or in any other similarly distressing situation due to the weather conditions recently please watch Dr. Mary Cowley. She will show you how to treat yourself for your trauma. The TFT trauma treatment is effective in 80% of cases. Just follow her instructions.
